Dundun alata

1.8K

I have bought the locally sold outdoor dundun many times and I’ve always enjoyed it. The only challenge is that it’s only sold in the evening where I stay. I wanted it in the morning this day, so I thought of DIY (Do It Yourself). Yeah! Then I had to factor in my love for pepper… I really love the spice pepper gives food; fresh pepper… hmmn…

Dundun alata is a really simple and fast to make… And will be just perfect as a snack or as a meal with sauce. You want to try out your own; really!

Let’s get cooking!

INGREDIENTS          4 Servings

  • Yamcut into chips                   500g
  • Chilli powder          as desired
  • Salt                               1 tbsp
  • Thyme                           1 tsp
  • Oil                           for frying

Step 1

Peel yam and chip into desired shape. Add pepper, salt and thyme.

Step 2

Heat up oil in pan to medium heat for 3 minutes. Then fry chips.

Put them on a kitchen towel; this will absorb any excess oil.

Step 3

Serve hot. It’s so lovely… I served mine with herring fish.
